Packaging. It’s the stuff we buy that we don’t want or need. It’s the stuff that holds our precious cargo, keeps it safe until we can get home and unwrap our chosen item. The problem is that we often get more packaging than we get chosen item. This is a problem we posed to pupils from Hawarden High School recently. Their response was inspirational. After only an hour they had designed and re-designed all sorts of packaging and products. Among the designs were ‘Easy Cheese’ (a cheese with minimal wax packaging), an educational iPad with apps for school, in-shop refills for cosmetics and Blu-ray cases made from compressed banana leaves! If Hawarden High School’s pupils can do this in an hour, just imagine the impact they could have over a lifetime.
Pupils, we salute you.
